Awra Briguela Shares Emotional Struggle Amid Ongoing Criticism Following 2023 Incident

Actress Awra Briguela has opened up about the emotional challenges she continues to face due to persistent criticism stemming from a 2023 incident that led to her arrest and legal case. Speaking on the August 7 episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Awra admitted tearfully that she feels like giving up every day as she tries to move forward from the episode.

Awra revealed that the backlash has not eased despite her efforts to improve herself and resume her life. She said it took her a year before she was able to face people again and continue her studies after the incident. Even after graduating from senior high school and pursuing further education, she noted that people still had negative things to say about her.

The actress described the criticism as especially difficult now that she is in college. She shared that while she often feels like quitting, the support and motivation she receives from her siblings and parents keep her going. She acknowledged that if it were only up to her, she might have given up because it seems that no matter what she does, it does not change how people perceive her.

During the interview, Awra addressed the 2023 bar brawl in Makati's Poblacion district, which resulted in a legal case that was eventually dismissed. She emphasized that the matter has long been resolved, and she has privately apologized to those involved and taken full accountability for her actions. She said it took her more than a year to truly move on and start anew after the mistake.

Awra also recounted posting an open letter about the incident, clarifying that the public apology was her personal decision made only after ensuring the issue had been settled privately. She denied that the apology was part of any agreement, describing it as a reflection following the events.

When asked what she would say to her younger self, Awra became emotional and expressed regret for the mistakes she made that her younger self did not deserve. She said her younger self was full of dreams, but now her main aspiration is simply to get through life. Despite this, she reminded her younger self of her strength and resilience.

The 2023 incident involved Awra being taken to a police station after a brawl with another customer outside a bar in Makati. She was released on bail the following day. In a 2024 YouTube video on Vice Ganda's channel, Awra stated that she has learned her lesson from the experience.
