Converge FiberXers Turn to Cameron Clark to End Losing Streak in PBA Governors’ Cup

MANILA, Philippines — The Converge FiberXers have enlisted Cameron Clark as their new import in an effort to reverse their recent slump in the PBA Governors’ Cup. Team governor Archen Cayabyab confirmed Clark’s arrival on Sunday, marking a swift replacement for Jamaal Franklin, whose second stint with the team lasted only three games, all resulting in losses.

Clark’s recruitment came after the team’s initial plan to bring in Travin Thibodeaux fell through due to Thibodeaux exceeding the league’s maximum height limit of 6-foot-6. Cayabyab explained that this unexpected development necessitated an immediate decision to secure a suitable import.

At 34 years old, Cameron Clark is a familiar figure in the PBA, embarking on his fourth stint in the league and joining his third team. He first appeared in the PBA with the NLEX Road Warriors during the 2022 Governors’ Cup, then played for the San Miguel Beermen in the 2023 Governors’ Cup. More recently, Clark competed in the 2024-25 Commissioner’s Cup as part of the guest team Hong Kong Eastern.

The FiberXers’ decision to bring in Clark follows a challenging stretch in the Governors’ Cup. After opening the conference with a promising 3-0 record, Converge has since suffered four straight defeats, dropping their standing to a tie for fourth place alongside the Terrafirma Dyip. Notably, Clark’s debut game is scheduled against Terrafirma on Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Jamaal Franklin, who Clark replaces, was Converge’s second import of the conference after the team parted ways with their original choice, Jalen Hudson. Franklin’s return was anticipated to bolster the team’s performance, but the three-game losing streak during his tenure prompted the management to seek a new direction.

Clark’s familiarity with the league and previous experience with multiple PBA teams is expected to facilitate a smoother transition and provide an immediate boost to the FiberXers’ campaign. The team aims to leverage his skills to halt their losing streak and regain momentum in the highly competitive Governors’ Cup.

Converge’s management and coaching staff are hopeful that Clark’s addition will help the team snap out of its current slump and improve their chances of advancing in the tournament.
