Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin to Lead TV5’s Morning Series ‘Mommy Guard’ in 2026 Lineup

TV5 is positioning itself strongly for the latter half of 2026 with a robust slate of entertainment and news programs, headlined by the reunion of 1990s screen icons Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin in the morning series “Mommy Guard.” The network revealed its upcoming lineup during its mid-year trade launch, showcasing a mix of fresh and returning shows aimed at capturing diverse audiences.

The morning schedule will open with “Frontline sa Umaga,” a news program anchored by seasoned journalist Ed Lingao alongside Chiqui Roa-Puno, Dimples Romana, Angela Lagunzad-Castro, Andrei Felix, Maui David, and Laila Chikadora. Following this is “Mommy Guard,” marking Magdangal’s return to television and reuniting her with Agustin, her former “MarJo” love team partner. The comedy series also features Dominic Ochoa and Roxanne Guinoo among its cast.

Magdangal and Agustin were a dominant love team in the 1990s, starring in popular youth-oriented shows such as “Gimik,” “Flames,” and “Labs Ko si Babe.” Magdangal, known as the “Queen of Philippine Pop Culture” and the original “Multimedia Superstar,” has maintained a loyal fan base that the pair hopes will support their new project.

Reflecting on their reunion, Magdangal expressed happiness that their partnership remains relevant and evolving, noting that their dynamic has matured alongside their personal lives and families. Agustin described their collaboration as an elevated experience of romance and excitement, signaling a fresh take on their well-loved chemistry.

Beyond the morning block, TV5 is also enhancing its primetime offerings with new series like “A Secret in Prague,” an action-drama starring Andrea Brillantes and Enrique Gil, and “My Bespren Emman,” featuring Shaina Magdayao and JM de Guzman. Veteran host Korina Sanchez has also revamped her program “Rated Korina” on the network, aiming for a more positive and loving tone.

Sanchez expressed pride in joining TV5, referring to it as her new home after her tenure with ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Channel. The network’s expanded lineup also includes popular ABS-CBN primetime series such as “Sigabo” with Coco Martin and Julia Montes, “Someone, Someday” starring Kathryn Bernardo, James Reid, and Maja Salvador, as well as game shows like Vice Ganda’s “Everybody Sing” and Luis Manzano’s “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.”
