Nikki Gil Completes Interior Design Degree with Highest Honors After Ten Years

Nikki Gil has reached a significant academic milestone by earning her second degree with highest distinction after a decade of dedicated study. The singer and actress completed a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design at the SoFA Design Institute, where she was also recognized as a Best Thesis Awardee. She announced this achievement on Instagram on August 9, sharing photos from her graduation ceremony alongside her husband BJ Albert and their children, Finn and Maddie.

Gil reflected on the long journey, noting that it spanned ten years, included raising two children, enduring a global pandemic, and managing numerous deadlines. She expressed gratitude for the strength and perseverance that helped her through the challenges, attributing her success to faith and support from those around her.

The artist began her interior design studies in 2016, unaware of the many life events that would unfold during this period. She admitted to moments of doubt about whether she would complete the degree but emphasized that perseverance and faith saw her through every season and delay.

Throughout her academic pursuit, Gil's children grew up alongside her studies, highlighting the balance she maintained between family life and education. She extended thanks to her family, friends, classmates, professors, and the SoFA Design Institute staff for their encouragement and assistance during her journey.

In her social media post, Gil encouraged others by stating that it is never too late to chase one’s dreams, using her own experience as an example of achieving a second degree before turning 40.

Gil first graduated from Ateneo de Manila University in 2009 with a degree in English Literature. She rose to prominence as a MYX VJ and became widely known for her 2005 Coca-Cola commercial and for performing the Asian promotional versions of songs from High School Musical, including “Breaking Free.”

In recent years, Gil has balanced her career and family life, including managing her daughter Maddie’s diagnosis with Kawasaki disease, a rare heart condition, which was publicly disclosed last year. Her academic accomplishment adds a new chapter to her multifaceted career and personal life.
