SB19 Makes History as First Filipino Act to Perform at Lollapalooza with Debut of 'Lawless'

Filipino pop group SB19 officially became the first Filipino act to perform at the renowned Lollapalooza music festival, taking the Allianz Stage in Chicago before an enthusiastic crowd that cheered and chanted throughout their nearly hour-long set. Their historic appearance marked a significant milestone for Filipino artists on the global music stage.

The group opened their performance with "DAM," a hard-hitting track that immediately energized the audience. They followed with "GENTO," which featured a newly choreographed dance break, showcasing their dynamic stage presence and ability to engage the crowd.

After introducing themselves to the audience, SB19 delivered the live debut of their freshly released single "Lawless." The song, characterized by smooth, addictive low guitar riffs and a catchy beat, was followed by "Emoji," where the group demonstrated their skill in balancing strong vocals with intricate choreography.

Continuing their set, SB19 highlighted their vocal harmonies and the unique Filipino throat chakra technique with performances of "MAPA" and "Wakas." They also offered the audience a preview of "Mga Kababayan," a cover of a Francis Magalona classic that they recorded for the soundtrack of the upcoming DreamWorks animated film "Forgotten Island."

To close their set, SB19 returned to high-energy tracks, performing "VISA," "Dungka," and "Crimzone" consecutively. This sequence created a lively party atmosphere that electrified the festival grounds. During "Dungka," Benny the Bull, the mascot of the Chicago Bulls, joined the group on stage for a dance segment, adding a playful and memorable moment to the performance.

In the final song, "Crimzone," member Stell performed topless, delivering their signature earth-shaking banger complete with a new dance break arrangement. As they exited the stage, the group expressed gratitude to their fans and promised to return next year. Earlier in the set, Josh had remarked that while it was their first time at Lollapalooza, it would not be their last.

Following the performance, in an interview on Disney+, Josh stated that the group's next goal is "world domination," signaling their ambition to expand their global reach. SB19 plans to continue their international engagements with thanksgiving fan meets in the United States before heading to Japan in August for the Summer Sonic festival. They are also scheduled to return to the U.S. in October for the KPOPWORLD Festival in Texas.
